Sports Station
As you can probably guess by the title of this bar, this is a great place to go to catch a sports game and enjoy a few beers. However, Sports Station goes above and beyond your typical sports bar. Firs off, one of the coolest features are the taps built-in to the tables, so you can serve yourself at your discretion. If that is not enough, you can order a 4L of beer for only $17.50—that gives you about 7 pints of beer, which makes it about $2.50 per pint.
On top of all the booze, the menu is quite extensive as well and the kitchen stays open later than most other bars. They even have breakfast options on the menu, so you can start your day there as early as you want. With all these fun features, Sports Station is great if you actually want to watch the game surrounded by fellow fans, but it also attracts a large crowd just looking to have a good time and mingle.

Chef on Call
What started as a delivery food service out of one ambitious student’s kitchen is now a functioning restaurant with a location of Sherbrooke, only a few blocks away from the McGill campus.
The menu was designed to cater to student late-night munchies, but with a gourmet twist. The sandwiches are garnished with unique toppings, and you can pick from an array of house-made sauces to go with any order. In addition to sandwiches, poutines and pastas, the salads and healthy options section on the menu make this service stand out from typical late-night delivery. The Cuban and the Mac n Cheese are two of the most popular and highly recommended dishes on the menu. Be sure to ask for the garlic mayo to go with a side of sweet potato fries.
Open until 4 o’clock in the morning every day but Sunday, you can either stop in for take out on your way home from the bar or order in once you get home. With its location so near to McGill, if you live in the ghetto or any place close you’ll receive your order within minutes. What more could a student ask for?

Patati Patata
At Patati Patata, a small joint so cozy it only sits 15, you can order a burger for only $2.25. Or, you can treat yourself to a burger, salad, fries and a soft drink and still pay under $7.00 with tax. But don’t let these low prices fool you, this isn’t a fast food restaurant—the food comes fast, but it is cooked fresh right before your eyes in an open kitchen.
Just like the setting, the burgers are quite small but it is doubtful you will ever leave this place hungry. In addition to a wide variety of sandwiches, vegetarian options included, Patati Patata is also known for its freshly made poutines for only $4.00.
Check this place out for a uniquely intimate diner experience, where you’ll be sure to befriend the talkative chefs who cook right before your eyes.
Pick's Burgers
Picks Burgers, a must try burger joint for any burger lover or anyone who is interested in trying out a “kogo”. This small but amazing restaurant was opened in April of 2009, and is family run. No matter what you purchase there you can sure it is going to be amazing, because even if they think they have overcooked something the slightest they will remake it for you, only serving you the best and making every dish consistent from visit to visit. Their menu offers the “Picks Burger” which is by far the most popular pick, along with steak burgers, hotdogs, poutine, salad, fries, and even the classic “Kogo”. All of these you can choose to add different toppings as well as sauces. The Kogo is a pogo, yet the batter has little pieces of potato in it, making it have a nice crunchy texture with even more flavor. The best thing about Picks is the price, only $3.50 for a burger, as well as the fact you can put anything on it that you wish. You can choose from a variety of cheeses, such as brie, mozzarella, swiss, cheddar, ect. The free fixing’s include lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, relish, and cole slaw. However the best part of these burgers are adding the “extras” which do cost either 50 cents or a dollar more, but are absolutely worth it. (Egg, bacon, olives, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, onion rings, red peppers, ect) Picks, located at 1407 Rue St-Marc is a definite must try! Pop in for lunch, dinner, or a late night snack, considering they are open until 1am.

Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill
As a true local neighborhood bar with a Celtic pub feel, it is only fitting that Ye Olde Orchard opened on St. Patty’s Day back in 2008. Of its two locations, the one on Prince Arthur (by the corner of St-Laurent) draws in a large student crowd due to its proximity to the McGill campus and student living area.
In addition to its fun, Irish ambiance, one of this bar’s main attractions is the weekly Pub Quiz, offering participants, teams or individuals, the chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the bar. With a stand-up comedian for a the host, you can be sure to have a good time even if you don’t win the prize. This takes place on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays, depending on whether there is a hockey game.
Another reason this pub is great for McGill students is “Happy Hour” on Mondays-Fridays from 4:00-7:00, with $5 for a pint of domestic beer or a glass of house wine. So close to campus, it is the perfect spot to blow off some steam after class!
