What is the Underground City?
Montreal's underground city is the largest in the world. It connexts multiple large complexes throughout the city. With over 32 km of tunnels spread around the city, connected areas include shopping malls, apartment buildings, hotels, condos, banks, offices, museums, universities, seven metro stations, two commuter train stations, the regional bus terminal, and the Bell Centre.
In Winter, approximately 500,000 people use the underground tunnels everyday.
On a freezing cold winter day, exploring the underground city can provide hours of adventure, and you can shop, eat, see a movie or even visit a museum!
While this may not be the most exciting adventure, it certainly is a new way to look at the city, while staying warm! But remember, the underground city can be a zoo, so try not to go during rush hour (before work, during lunch, and after work)!!
