What Dr. Kristopher Krimi, D.M.D., from Centre Belles Dents, has to say about treatment options

Invisalign is used as an esthetic treatment for minor teeth malpositions ( i.e. 1 or 2 teeth / arch ). The patient cannot have any skeletal pathologies such as a narrow palate or jaw problems.

Lingual braces allow for correction of multiple malpositions and dentofacial disordersjust like traditional braces will do, however they are more esthetic than traditional braces. The downfall to having lingual braces is that some people do not like the contact on their tongues. The mechanics are difficult, as well.

The clinician will usually have a preference for treatment depending on the specific case. The options will generally be discussed at the consult. Sometimes multiple consults may be necessary, i.e., with a TMJ specialist, periodontist, general dentist, prosthodontist, speech therapist, chiropractor, or oral surgeon.
