Blue Plate Catering in Spotlight
1. Do you have any particular style of food or special menu items that you specialize in?
We love to focus on fresh, seasonal and sustainable menus, but we are custom caterers, and work with each Bride and Groom to create a menu that reflects their taste.
2. Could we provide a sentimental family favorite recipe to include in the menu?
Of course, be it a cultural favorite or a treasured family recipe, we love the challenge of perfecting your favorites!
3. Do you offer both buffet and sit-down? How does the cost-per-person of a buffet compare to that of a sit-down dinner?
We produce traditional plated menus, family style menus, as well as buffets and station menus. The food costs are most dependent on the items served, but usually a plated meal is the most economical choice, since we are better able to control portions and food quantity.
4. Does that cost-per-person just cover the food, or are charges such as staff, rentals, and linens included?
Most of our proposals include all food, beverage, equipment (china, glassware, flatware, tables, chairs, etc.) linens, and service staff. This often differs depending on the venue chosen.
5. What service costs are included and what costs are additional? Are set-up and clean-up included?
We always plan for our staff to set all of the equipment that Blue Plate has provided, and of course to return the venue to its pre-event cleanliness before we leave.
6. Do you provide linens, glasses, plates, silverware, tables, chairs, serving pieces, and decorative flowers for trays?
Yes, we often provide all of the serving equipment, and even fresh green garnishes for hors d’oeuvre trays!
7. Do you charge for beverage service?
Many venues in Chicago allow clients to provide their own liquor. In this case, Blue Plate will provide a mixer package of soft drinks and garnishes for a nominal fee. Our bartenders are often included in the service charge, if required.
8. Will you provide special meals for any children who attend, and are there a discounted charge for them?
We can certainly customize a children’s menu and charges! And, of course we would not charge for alcohol for anyone underage.
9. Do you have to give a deposit and what is the cancelling policy?
We accept a 50% deposit with a signed contract.
10. Could you briefly describe what makes your catering unique?
We have a dedicated weddings team that solely works on weddings. Their time is strictly devoted to our brides and grooms. In addition, our chefs are constantly creating new menus and dishes, focusing on seasonal, local and sustainable products. We pride ourselves on staying ahead of the curve and are always working to create the perfect menu for our clients. At the end of the day, we want our clients to be happy and at ease. We want to exceed their expectations and turn their vision into reality.
