Melissa Mistretta Chicago Bride-to-be

1. Where are you getting married and when?

Our wedding date is October 2, 2010.  The ceremony will be at Notre Dame De Chicago Cathedral in the West Loop.  The church is beautiful and very special to us.  We attend services there and it's a community that we feel special to be a part of.

The reception is at Trump International Hotel.  We chose it for the great view and for the incredible customer service.  A great view of the city is important to us since many of our guests will be visiting from out of town.  Surprisingly, not many reception spaces in the city have a great view.

2. How many guests have you invited?

About 250

3. What is important for you to have on your wedding day?

Great music and great food are two very important things.  David Rosthstein Band is providing the music and the food at Trump is incredible.  So, we're hopeful that guests will really enjoy the music and food at our wedding reception.

5. Where did you look for information when you first got started?

We asked friends and looked online.  Friends that have gone through the wedding planning process are wonderful resources.  There's no need to reinvent the wheel.  Our wedding coordinator, Christina Mendoza Terptstra of "You'll Say I Do" has been really helpful as well.

6. What has been the most challenging thing so far?

The first major hurdle was booking the church and reception site. Another major hurdle has been managing rsvp's and seating charts.

7. Where did you look for your wedding dress and why made you pick the one you did?

I looked many places and found a St. Pucchi gown that I love.  I highly recommend St. Pucchi gowns.

8. If you could give advice to someone that just starting to plan their wedding, what would it be?

Book the ceremony/reception space right away.  Spaces book up quickly and this is the typically the biggest budget item.  After that, book vendors in order of what's important to you, noting that bands and photographers book up quickly.  Give yourself plenty of time to meet with several vendors, gather reviews, and negotiate services and fees.

At times when the planning seems overwhelming, think about how special this process is, and how quickly this all goes by.
